Synthefy is hiring a Founding Software Engineer in San Francisco. Onsite is preferred and remote is considered. Compensation is $220,000 to $250,000 per year. This founding-engineer role spans backend, cloud infrastructure, ML platforms, security, and developer tooling for a company building foundation models for tabular and time-series data. You will work on production backend services, APIs, and SDKs, ML training and inference infrastructure, secure deployment for hosted and customer-managed environments, and CI/CD and observability. This is a true founding-engineer seat: broad ownership across product, platform, and infrastructure, with real influence on the technology roadmap from day one. What this role needs
- 5+ years with a BS, or 3+ years with an MS
- Strong Python and production backend experience
- Distributed systems and one major cloud (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
- Containers, infrastructure as code, and production ML systems
- Nice to have: Terraform or Kubernetes, SageMaker or Vertex, PyTorch or model optimization, GPU workloads, founding-engineer or startup experience
